The Importance of Self-Care

Self-care is the conscious act that you will take in order to maximize your physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being.
Self-care is crucial in building your resilience towards any stressor in your life.
When you take the necessary steps to care for your mind and body, you will be better equipped to live the life your Destined to live.

You need to understand that in order for your body to perform effectively and efficiently, you must take care of it. Keep in mind that the connection between your mind and body - is strong. When you care for your body, not only will you think better, but you will feel better as well.
Physical Self-Care
Physical self-care includes how you're fueling your body, how much sleep you're getting, how much physical activities you're doing and how well you're care for your physical needs. Eating healthy, drinking water, bathing in the sun, and overall managing your health are all part of good physical self-care.

Mental Self-Care
The way you think and how you are filling your mind can influence your psychological well-being. Mental self-care includes doing things that you love as well as things that can keep your mind sharp. Learning about things that your are interested in, reading books, or watching movies that inspires you fuels your mind drastically.

Emotional Self-Care
It is important to have a healthy coping skills that you can use when dealing with uncomfortable emotions, such as, anger, depression, anxiety, and sadness. Emotional self-care may include getting a therapist or life coach. It can also include activities that helps you acknowledge and express your feelings on a regular basis such as Speaking on Clubhouse.
Social Self-Care
Socialization is a key to self-care as well. But, with some, it's often hard to make time for your friends and family and it's easy to neglect those relationships that means the most to you when your life gets busy and chaotic.
Spiritual Self-Care
There have been studies that shows that a lifestyle that includes spirituality practices are generally healthier.
Nurturing your spirit does not have to include religion. It's about building and having a relationship with God. It can involve anything that helps you develop a deeper sense of who you are and whos you are.

Self-care isn't a one-size-fits all. You will need to develop a self-care plan that is customizable to your needs.
To develop your self-care plan, you would first need to assess the areas in your life that needs the most attention and self-care. This reassessment process should be done monthly because as your life evolves and your situation changes, your self-care needs are likely to shift as well.
